Our second guest as you can see is the the famed Chef Nori who is himself also a native to the Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan. Chef Nori's entry into cooking was serendipitous. A budding musician at the age of 15, he took a job in Tokyo at a California-style restraurant to support his passion as a guitar player in a rock band. Upon completing high school, he entered Japan's prestigious Tsuji Culinary School in Osaka. Chef Nori soon discovered he was as fervent about cooking as he was about music. He found many similarities between the two, Harmony. Orchestrating a meal is like creating an unforgettable score. Presentation is like a mesmerizing solo. Like any perofrmance, you have to put on a good show.
Q1. How and when did you come across Hitachino Nest Beers?
Chef Nori: In 2003, I was the executive chef at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City, the Hitachino Nest Beers were listed on their beverage menu.
Q2. Which Hitachino Nest Beer/s did you encounter first?
Chef Nori: The White Ale
Q3. What was your first overall impression of this beer? (Packaging, logo, overall taste)
Chef Nori: The branding was unique, quite a trendy image. The beer also showed a variety of flavors.
Q4. Did this experience make you want to continue exploring the range of Hitachino Nest Beers?
Chef Nori: Yes, I wanted to keep trying the different styles of Hitachino Nest Beers and the different flavors they offered.
Q5. Have you tasted the entire range of Hitachino Nest Beers? Which is your favorite?
Chef Nori: Yes, I think so, my favorite is the Dai Dai IPA and the Japanese Plum beer.
Q6. What makes Hitachino Nest so unique compared to the vast selection of craft beers available in Japan and around the world?
Chef Nori: Hitachino Nest Beers are a very impressive Japanese craft beer known for its quality and consistency in high quality.
Q7. In the future, what other types of beers or flavors would you be interested in seeing from Hitachino Nest?
Chef Nori: I would be interested in seeing a Champagne style Nest Beer!
